Today was a fun day for us. Sarah was on the nasal cannula when we arrived this afternoon. The nurse said she'd put her on that earlier that morning. She was doing really well. The cannula is simple oxygen just like we see lots of people wearing when they need oxygen outside of the hospital. She was much more comfortable and it was so nice to see her without the major tubing going to the ventilator.
She had her eyes checked this afternoon as well. Many preemies have problems with retinas detaching which can cause sight problems. The doctor said she had normal premature eyes, so that was very good news.
This evening she was back on the nasal CPAP. She lasted about 6.5 hours on the cannula which gave her nose a nice rest from the long prongs of the CPAP. She was up to 50% oxygen, but she had a long exhausting day, so hopefully after she rests she'll be able to come down from that again.
As I drove into Huntsville yesterday, I was feeling a bit down. I have been tired of seeing her on the CPAP because I know how uncomfortable it is for her. I'm also simply weary. It is exhausting driving back and forth sometimes along with all the other things I still have going on in my life and I think it has been catching up to me the past couple of days. So as I was driving in and talking with my mother about those things I saw a rainbow. Not a normal, "Oh hey there is a rainbow" rainbow, but one of those rare full arched rainbows. I could see both ends and all the colors. It was beautiful. As I drove, it looked as if we were driving right into it. When we got to the end of the road, there it was right in front of us. It reminded me of what our Sunday School teachers always told us... "God always keeps His promises." He is so faithful. What a great reminder that was. Yet again, He tells me to lean on Him. Not on my own strength because it fails, but on Him because He never fails.
Thank you all again for your continued
prayers. We still need them!
