Trying out the C-PAP. Sarah really thought it was uncomfortable!

Well, they did indeed take her ventilator out today. She was put on the nasal C-PAP at 10:00 a.m. this morning. They put her on 60% oxygen through the C-PAP. Sarah hated the C-PAP. It was really uncomfortable and she continually de-sated while she was on it. She just generally couldn't get comfortable. However, while she was on it, I was able to hear her cry for the first time since she was first born. Her little cries took my breath away. They tried the C-PAP for most of the day but finally decided at 5:00 p.m. to put her back on the ventilator. It was a little disappointing, but Sarah seems to rest much better with the vent. If she can be off it for a little while and have to go back on, it is still better for her lungs, so we're glad she had a little time off the vent anyway.
She did get her IV out today. It's nice to see her with one less tube. She is receiving 3.5 ccs of milk every hour and they expect to be able to give her even more tomorrow. She's tolerating her feedings really well.
Pray specifically for her lungs for the next few days, if you don't mind. We'd love her to get off the ventilator as soon as possible!
